Have you dreamed of viewing the Penguin Parade on Phillip Island? This phenomenon draws many visitors to the area each year, excited to see the penguins in their natural surroundings making their nightly trek from the ocean up the beach to their habitats for the evening. The Little Penguin Bus offers guided tours to the event year-round for Melbourne residents and visitors who want to experience one of the area’s most valuable treasures. Two of our most popular tour options include:

Penguin Express with Guided Ranger Tour to Phillip Island

Our Guided Ranger Tour is a special eight-hour package that includes a scenic two-hour drive to Phillip Island with a break halfway through and plenty of commentary along the way. If time permits, we’ll take a short walk at The Nobbies to observe the breathtaking Bass Strait coastal views. You’ll have a chance to spot interesting sights such seabirds, swamp wallabies, and penguin burrows as we drive around Summerland Peninsula.

Once we arrive at the Penguin Parade, you’ll have time to shop for souvenirs, enjoy a meal or snack, and socialise with a different group of visitors. Take a guided tour of the penguin colony and then take your reserved beachfront seat to watch the Little Penguins arrive. At the end of the evening, we’ll head back to Melbourne in our comfortable, air-conditioned mini-bus. Maximum group size is 11, and minimum age is 12.

Penguin Express with Ultimate Adventure Tour to Phillip Island

Are you a serious nature lover who would enjoy seeing the penguins in a more natural setting? The Ultimate Adventure Tour takes you away from the main Penguin Parade to a separate setting where you can observe the penguins in their natural habitats. The tour starts with a scenic drive to the island complete with commentary and a bathroom and snack break halfway through. We’ll enjoy a walk at The Nobbies to take in the coastal views at Bass Strait, then drive around Summerland Peninsula to look for penguin burrows and the diverse wildlife that lives here.

You’ll have a little free time to visit the information centre and café before meeting up with another group of people and your designated wildlife ranger. You will receive an informative briefing and then travel to your own private beach, which is normally inaccessible to the public. This tour is limited to no more than ten people of 16 years of age and older. Participants need to be at least at a medium fitness level.
