Jumping Crocs Tour - Adelaide River
You are invited to participate in a half-day Jumping Croc Cruise on the Adelaide River in Darwin, where you will have the opportunity to observe some of the world’s most dangerous predators in their natural habitat.
From Darwin city, we head southeast for about 60km to the Marrakai wetlands, known for its diverse range of native birds and reptiles, including saltwater crocodiles.
Australia’s Top End is a habitat for over 100,000 saltwater crocodiles, primarily found in Darwin, Mary River, and the Adelaide River region. In the Northern Territory, visitors can come across numerous crocodiles in the naturally occurring waterways throughout the day.
The saltwater crocodile is the largest reptile in the world. Additionally, it is considered one of the oldest living creatures, with origins dating back to the dinosaur age. These ancient creatures can grow up to 6 meters long and weigh as much as 1000kg.
A well-known crocodile named ‘Sweetheart’ caused trouble in the Adelaide River. Sweetheart chew motors off fishermen’s boats and steal cows from local farmers. Sadly, Sweetheart passed away in 1979 but is now preserved in the Darwin Museum.
Our staff is required to have Wildlife Permits from National Parks and Wildlife to ensure the safety of animals during our interactions with them.
